Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
One-day EFAW course for offices and other low-risk work environments.
A regulated two-day qualification delivered in a live Zoom classroom of no more than 8 learners — turning your staff into qualified workplace mental health first aiders.
The Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) is a regulated, Ofqual-recognised qualification accredited by Qualsafe Awards. Over two days, your staff learn to spot the signs of poor mental health, listen without judgement, respond in a crisis and signpost colleagues to the right professional support — exactly as a physical first aider would respond to an injury.
Successful delegates qualify as workplace mental health first aiders. Beyond one-to-one support skills, the course prepares them to contribute to mental health risk assessments, help shape workplace wellbeing policy, and support colleagues (and their line managers) through a return to work after mental-health-related absence.
Training takes place in a live Zoom classroom capped at 8 learners — small enough for real conversation, not a webinar you watch passively. A qualified instructor leads the full two days, answering questions in real time and running group discussions, role-play scenarios and breakout-room exercises that mirror the situations a mental health first aider will actually face.
Many learners tell us the small online format is more personal than a packed training room: more airtime per person, deeper discussion and direct feedback from the instructor. Delegates simply need a computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone, and somewhere quiet to join from — home or workplace.
The qualification is assessed through two multiple-choice question papers completed during the course. Delegates who pass are awarded the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health: Workplace First Aider, valid for three years.
Anyone who wants to support their own and colleagues' wellbeing at work — designated mental health first aiders, managers, supervisors and HR teams. Delegates must be 16 or over with a basic command of English (Level 2). No previous training is required.
Please book thoughtfully: the course covers subjects some people may find distressing, including suicide and self-harm. Delegates can step out at any time, but if you think the content may be difficult for someone, check they're comfortable attending before booking them on — and encourage them to contact us if they're unsure.
