Course Overview
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is the most popular workplace first aid qualification in the UK. Over one day at your premises, our trainer will equip up to 12 of your staff with the skills and confidence to manage an emergency until professional help arrives.
The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 for lower-risk workplaces such as offices, shops and restaurants, and each successful student receives an EFAW certificate valid for three years.
What Your Team Will Learn
- The role and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an incident and acting safely in an emergency
- CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Treating an unresponsive casualty and the recovery position
- Choking, bleeding, shock, burns and minor injuries
- Recording incidents and the contents of a first aid kit
Who Is This Course For?
EFAW is designed for nominated workplace first aiders in low-risk environments. If your workplace involves machinery, chemicals, construction or other higher risks, the HSE recommends the full 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification instead — we deliver that on site too.
