First Aid at Work (FAW) — 3 Day Course

The full FAIB accredited FAW qualification, delivered as 6 hours of e-learning plus 2 practical days at your workplace — for medium to high-risk environments.

Course Overview

The First Aid at Work (FAW) course is the most comprehensive workplace first aid qualification, designed for businesses operating in medium to high-risk environments such as manufacturing, construction, warehousing and engineering.

We deliver it as a blended qualification: your staff complete 6 hours of e-learning in their own time, then our trainer delivers 2 days of practical training at your premises. This keeps time away from the job to a minimum while covering the full FAW syllabus.

The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and each successful student receives an FAW certificate valid for three years.

Optional Upgrade: Regulated Level 3 Qualification

If your organisation prefers a regulated qualification, we can deliver this course leading to the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF), accredited by Qualsafe Awards, for £1,200 + VAT.

To be clear: the Level 3 route is a preference some organisations have, not a legal requirement. The standard FAIB-accredited FAW certificate fully satisfies the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 — but some employers, tenders and sector bodies specifically ask for an Ofqual-regulated (RQF) qualification, and this upgrade covers that. Not sure which your business needs? Ask when you enquire and we'll advise.

What Your Team Will Learn

  • Everything covered in the Emergency First Aid at Work syllabus
  • CPR, AED use and managing an unresponsive casualty
  • Fractures, sprains, strains and spinal injuries
  • Major illnesses — heart attack, stroke, diabetes, epilepsy and asthma
  • Severe bleeding, shock, burns, eye injuries and poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis and the use of adrenaline auto-injectors

Who Is This Course For?

FAW is for nominated first aiders in workplaces where a risk assessment identifies higher hazards — machinery, working at height, chemicals or vehicle movements. For lower-risk environments such as offices, the one-day EFAW course is usually sufficient.

What's Included

  • Experienced, qualified trainer at your premises
  • All equipment — manikins, AED trainers, materials
  • FAIB accredited certification for every successful student
  • Scenarios tailored to your workplace risks
